Hand Dyed Leather Belt

Obbi Good Label, Handmade Leather Goods always develop new ideas base on their strong fundamentals in leathercrafting knowledge.

From basic Natural Vegetable-tanned Leathers, Exotic Skins to premium Shell Cordovan leathers, we have seen the use of different leathers on their leather collections.

Recently, after obtaining some really strong Natural Double-bend Vegetable-tanned Leathers for belts, they hand-dyed the Natural Leathers using their in-house Colour Changing Kit. Using Black dye coupled with a double-prong Brass Buckle, we see a prominent difference.

Surprisely, matching in colours, the black dyed belt now present a 'muscular' look!

The orginal colour of the Natural Leather can be seen after holes are punched, creating a contrasty colour effect.

The belt edge are dyed in black because we are interested to find out how the 'rubbing' movement against the buckle will turn out after some time.

With time of usage, the dye will fade unevenly throughout together with wearing out process of the Natural Leather, a unique type of aging where the Japanese call it #茶芯. This process can be found on the vintage Red Wing 2268 Engineer Boots (PT91).

We have seen many examples of boots aging revealing the original brown.

We have also seen many examples of Natural Leather Belt amazingly aged.

Now, let's see how #茶芯 belt from Obbi Good Label will turn into.
