The KERMIT Chair was named after Kermit Easterling, a BMW motorcyclist who designed a lightweight and portable chair that can be transported on his motorcycle. Folding into flat shape explains how the chair can be saddled on the side of motorcycle, traveling to the countryside for outdoor camping. Since then, Kermit Chair has been serving it purpose for outdoor activities as well as becoming an iconic chair for lifestyle-loving individuals.
Recently, we completed the second version of our Kermit Chair using different materials, while maintaining it's main purpose as a portable and sturdy chair for any usage.
Leather and wood continue to be the main materials and the use of our proven stainless steel hardware is critical to provide reliable holdings and also to prevent any pre-mature damages due to rust. And of course, OGL Kermit Chair is a handmade and handstitched furniture.
This time, we use Fullgrain Cowhide leather that is glazed for a polished and shiny look for our Kermit Chair Version 2. The natural grains are very visible and highly characterized even when new, giving a unique look.
The wooden frame is made from Lemon Tree (Lemon wood), an even more suitable wood selection for indoor usage. Its light and natural colour contrast with the darker leather colour, with natural wood grains appearance.
We have also wrapped leather that are handstitched onto the handles to protect the wooden handles.
While the listed specifications show the various differences between the Version 1 and Version 2 OGL Kermit Chair, we thought the Version 1 is better for outdoor usage due to its promised aging ability in the raw and natural leather. With Version 2, it will definitely looks good indoor with its polished leather appearance and lighter wood colour.
Having said that, both versions will age well and both versions can be use indoor or outdoor, just that one will edge out a little in their own rights. And it really depends on you liking and lifestyle.
